Just to make absolute sure, I reformatted drive then tried again. No luck. Specifically, drive displays on desktop just fine as any external drive does but you are unable to transfer files to or from drive. Just a spinning beach ball.http://socialdash.inspired.lv/31287.php

Also can't eject drive. Even "Force Eject" doesn't work. You have to unplug power to drive to get it off desktop. Too bad.

Both my external drives work great via my older mac book pro firewire port, but through this adapter on the new mini they aren't even recognized.
Its not the thunderbolt side, when monitors are attached to the mini via mini display port i get a good image. Its a useless adapter. Buyer beware Doesn't even see my FW drives. The trick is to have the right version of iMovie - I have version '09 version 8. Works fine, just be careful to have an old version of iMovie. Guess what, it won't work with my new iMac because the adapter is Thunderbolt 2 and the new iMac has Thunderbolt 3 connections. I think Apple needs to clearly state in the description of this adapter that it is only for Thunderbolt 2 and will not work with current iMacs.
Let's hope that works.

Is this phenomenon known by ya'all? Of course by now I ordered the Sonnet adaptor mentioned here and recommended by Focusrite, but I want to know if I'm barking at the right tree, I got recordings planned shortly. Do not buy. New material available on; https: Firewire to Thunderbolt Thu Jun 26, 8: Turns out it was the mastering plugin on my DAW, it jumped into demo mode because it detected I moved to a new Mac hence the cable suspicion , and this stupid demo mode silences every 20 sec but doesn't say so, until you actually open it, dammit. After knowing that it was solved quickly. Not to lose time, I already mail-ordered some other cables and plugs while discovering this, I'll test them and post the test results here and with Focusrite.
Sound Posts: Mon Mar 17, Firewire to Thunderbolt Sun Apr 17, 7: To clarify: My iMac's pretty old in Apple years, but it works fine apart from the majorly slowed hard drive since El Capitan. I've seen people on other forums ask my question and being told they do exist, but do they? I sure as hell can't find any! Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
